This series features three UIC MCH trainees who completed their summer applied practice experiences (APE) in summer of 2019. The posts are shared and written by Madison Levecke an Irving Harris Scholar and a UIC MPH candidate in MCH-Epidemiology. 

Angelica Cabrera worked with PrimeCare Community Health located in Chicago, IL. She helped to create a sustainable quality improvement project to increase vaccination rates. Learn more here

Sarah Bergen completed her APE at the Public Health Institute of Metropolitan Chicago (PHIMC) in Chicago, IL. She talks about her experience working with local schools, and conducting an evaluation. Read about it here

Karissa Frazier worked with the UIC SPH Kenya Program with Maseno University in Maseno, Kenya. She helped to develop a women’s survey to conduct a community health needs assessment for communities surrounding the university. Learn more about here
